On 28/9, the Investigation Security Agency of the Ministry of Public Security initiated legal proceedings and temporarily detained Nguyen Duc Thuan, 42, from Lam Dong; Ho Pham Hiep Huy, 41, from Ho Chi Minh City; and Thai Cong Truong Son, 46, from Dong Thap. They are being investigated for terrorism and forging seals and documents of agencies, organizations, under Clause 2, Article 299 and Clause 2, Article 341 of the Penal Code.
According to the Ministry of Public Security, at approximately 21h50 on 18/9, the My Quy Tay Border Gate Station in Tay Ninh province discovered three individuals illegally entering Vietnam from Cambodia.
When apprehended, Thuan carried two citizen identification cards bearing the name Phan Duc Trung, using his own photo, along with a Norwegian passport under the name Nguyen Duc Thuan. Huy possessed an Australian passport under the name Tran Hiep.
The three individuals were subsequently transferred to the Investigation Security Agency of the Ministry of Public Security.
Authorities stated that during the investigation, Thuan, Huy, and Son declared themselves members of Viet Tan, using fake documents for illegal entry into Vietnam to carry out terrorist and sabotage activities.
