The investigation revealed the suspects worked as ticket control staff at the automatic gates of VinWonders Phu Quoc amusement park, a Vinpearl Joint Stock Company property. Exploiting a loophole in the ticket scanning process, the group targeted visitor groups of three or more, using their phones to photograph the QR codes of guests whose tickets had not been scanned.
Specifically, the automatic gate was designed to allow one person per scan. However, as the turnstile moved, the suspects intentionally held it back, preventing it from completing its cycle. They then instructed subsequent guests to enter without further scans. The unused QR codes were photographed and sent to external contacts for resale at a reduced price compared to the official company tickets.
Through this scheme, the suspects misappropriated ticket revenue, causing Vinpearl Company damages exceeding 1,7 billion VND.
