On 5/3, the Dak Lak Provincial Police indicted and detained Thi, residing in Long Chau hamlet, Dong Xuan commune, for property theft.
According to the investigation, Thi became a daughter-in-law in 2012. Knowing her in-laws stored gold in a cabinet, she plotted to steal it. From mid-january 2017 to december 2020, she opened the cabinet 11 times to take gold, then bought fake gold of the same design to replace it.

In 2021, her mother-in-law bought a safe to store all the rings and bracelets, totaling 321,5 taels of 9999 gold, preventing Thi from stealing further.
On 18/1, her in-laws took 5 rings and two bracelets to a gold shop in Dong Xuan commune for polishing, intending to give them as gifts at their son's upcoming wedding. Upon inspection, the shop owner confirmed they were fake gold.
Thi's in-laws then had all the gold in the safe checked, only to discover that out of the total gold saved over many years, only 41,5 taels were real; the remaining 280 taels were fake.
Police identified Thi as the suspect in the gold theft, summoning her for questioning. Thi confessed to stealing 280 taels of gold to pay off debts and purchase an SH Mode scooter registered under her father's name.
Additionally, in 2024, Thi also stole 29,5 million dong from her in-laws.
Thi and her husband separated, and the court finalized their divorce in 2025.
The Dak Lak Provincial Police are continuing their investigation and will process the case according to legal regulations.
