Ninh Binh provincial police arrested Trieu Van Nam, 22, a worker from Nghinh Tuong commune, Thai Nguyen province, currently residing in Bac Ninh, and Dao Nguyen Bach, 20, a university student from Ngoc Thanh commune, Hung Yen province, on the afternoon of 25/1. They are under investigation for property robbery.

Police reported that around 10 p.m. on 23/1, the two suspects, wearing masks and helmets, rode an unregistered motorbike to Hong Ngat gold shop in Group 4, Duy Tien ward. They were armed with a long knife, a hammer, and a glass bottle. The duo threatened the shop owner, smashed glass display cases, and ransacked numerous gold jewelry items.
The entire robbery lasted approximately 30 seconds.
After about 40 hours, the two suspects were apprehended. At their hiding places, authorities recovered all exhibits, including: 23 gold bracelets, 23 necklaces, 38 earrings, 20 rings, the unregistered motorbike, the knife, the hammer, and other related evidence. During a search of Bach's rented room, police also discovered a plastic bullet gun, which the student admitted he was preparing for other robberies.

The two confessed they met through Facebook and, both being in debt, decided to commit the robbery together. On the afternoon of 23/1, they rode a motorbike to Duy Tien ward to find a gold and silver shop to target. After stealing the property, they divided the gold and hid it in their rented rooms in Hung Yen and Bac Ninh. They were arrested before they could dispose of the stolen goods.
