According to information released by the Ministry of Public Security, the Criminal Police Department (C02) is investigating a murder case that occurred on 1/5/2022 in Sa Thay district, formerly Kon Tum province, now Sa Binh commune, Quang Ngai province.
Around 7:30 PM on that day, Pham Anh Tai, 36 years old, residing in Kon Tum ward, Quang Ngai province, was grilling meat and drinking beer with a woman at a disused shelter next to Kroong bridge in Binh Dong hamlet, Sa Binh commune. This shelter had previously been temporarily erected by Covid-19 prevention and control forces for disease control.
At the same time, Truong Duc Tin, 45 years old, and Le Loi, 38 years old, both residing in Ro Koi commune, Quang Ngai province, traveled by Mai Linh taxi from Kon Tum city across Kroong bridge. The two men stopped their vehicle to relieve themselves, which led to an altercation with Tai.
According to details of the case, Tai used a knife to stab Tin, causing his death, and injuring Loi.
The woman accompanying Tai, estimated to be over 18 years old, whose identity remains unknown, is believed to have witnessed the entire incident.
To aid the investigation, C02 requests that anyone with information or who witnessed the case provide it to the police or report it to the nearest unit. Informants will be ensured safety and their information kept strictly confidential.
Police stated that if the woman accompanying Tai proactively comes forward to testify and provide information, she will receive leniency. Conversely, anyone who knows about or witnessed the case but intentionally evades or fails to report will be dealt with according to legal provisions.
