On 11/9, Can Tho City Police arrested Nguyen Thi Tuyen for abusing democratic freedoms to infringe upon the interests of the State, and the legitimate rights and interests of organizations and individuals, under article 331 of the Penal Code.

Previously, authorities discovered the Facebook account "Tuyen Nguyen", used by Tuyen, which uploaded numerous videos and livestreams containing allegedly false information. She also solicited support from domestic and international viewers.

On 25/8, leaders of the Can Tho City Police directed the transfer of the case files to the Office of the Investigative Police Agency for verification.

During the investigation, authorities seized 48 videos reportedly uploaded by Tuyen. Forensic technical examination confirmed the videos were in their original form, not cut, spliced, or edited.

According to the content appraisal by the Can Tho Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, these videos contain false, distorted, and slanderous information, infringing upon the reputation of several agencies, organizations, and individuals.

Police stated that Tuyen had two previous criminal convictions.

In 2013, the Can Tho City People's Court sentenced her to two years in prison for disturbing public order, following an incident at the former Red Flag District People's Committee headquarters. She completed her sentence in 7/2015.

In 2020, she was again sentenced to 18 months in prison for property destruction, related to occupying over 2,4 hectares of land and preventing residents from agricultural production.

According to the investigative agency, after completing her prison sentence in 2022, Tuyen frequently filed complaints and uploaded extensive content to social media.
