Woman arrested for burying 2,900 tons of others' waste

Do Hong Trinh, 57, was found using her nearly 2,000 square meter plot of land to store and bury waste, charging fees for dumping, and causing environmental pollution.

On December 11, Do Hong Trinh was temporarily detained by Ho Chi Minh City Police for investigation into environmental pollution.

The discovery came after Patrol Team 363 of An Khanh Ward Police in Thu Duc City repeatedly observed three-wheeled vehicles illegally dumping waste on Do Hong Trinh's 2,000 square meter property on Street 11. The drivers admitted they were paid to transport waste to the site, paying Trinh between 200,000 and 400,000 dong per load.

Investigations revealed that Trinh personally buried the waste illegally. Since October 2024, she had unlawfully buried nearly 2,900 tons of refuse, generating over 120 million dong in profit.

Trinh's actions are believed to have severely impacted the local environment and disrupted urban resource management.
