Phan Thi Que Chi, Duong Thi Hang, 25, and five accomplices will be tried for attempted murder at the Ho Chi Minh City People's Court on 26/8/2023.
Chi had previously been in a relationship with Hung, but they later broke up. Around May 2023, Chi learned that Hung had a new girlfriend named Y. She messaged Y on Facebook to ask about her relationship with Hung, revealing that she was his ex-girlfriend. This led to an argument between the two women.
From 15/6/2023 to 19/6/2023, Y received a barrage of abusive messages from the Facebook accounts of Duong Thi Hang and Pham Duy Loc (both friends of Chi), challenging her to a meeting.
Y confided in her friend Khuyen, asking her to help resolve the conflict. Khuyen arranged a meeting with Chi's group at her house on Phan Huy Ich Street, Go Vap District. However, Y didn't show up.
On the evening of 19/6/2023, Chi, along with Hang, Loc, and four others, drove to the meeting place armed with two machetes and several knives.
Hang, Loc, and two others, each brandishing a knife, stormed into the house and demanded, "Is Y here?". Khuyen and her friend Hong came out from the living room and said, "There's no one named Y here." Suddenly, Hang attacked them with a knife.
Hong was stabbed in the shoulder, and Khuyen was stabbed in the hand before fleeing inside. Hong ran to the living room but collapsed, unconscious, and Hang continued to stab her multiple times. Chi joined the attack, hitting Hong in the head with a teapot.
When others in the house intervened, Hang's group threatened them with knives before fleeing.
Hong was rushed to the hospital and survived, sustaining injuries resulting in a 26% disability rating. Khuyen suffered minor injuries and declined a medical assessment.
According to the prosecutor's office, the defendants' actions endangered the lives of others and caused public disorder, warranting serious legal action.
