21 reckless drivers charged after street stunts in Ho Chi Minh City

Dozens of teens were apprehended by police after performing high-speed stunts, weaving through traffic, and forming horizontal lines across a road in Phuoc Hai commune (formerly Ba Ria - Vung Tau). 21 individuals have been charged.

On 20/8, the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division announced that 21 teens were charged with disturbing public order. 17 are in custody, while the others were released on bail pending further investigation.

On the evening of 16/8, during a crackdown on crime, the Traffic Police Department, in collaboration with the Criminal Investigation Division, observed dozens of teens speeding, weaving through traffic, and forming lines across a road in Phuoc Hai commune. Police intervened, detaining 25 individuals and impounding 20 motorcycles suspected of illegal modifications.

Investigators determined the individuals' actions threatened public safety and other road users, leading to the charges.

The Ho Chi Minh City Police Department urges residents, especially young people, to obey traffic laws and refrain from gathering, cheering for, or participating in illegal racing or other public disturbances.
