In 10/2023, Yen brought her lover to live at her parents' home in Long Dien commune. Around 8/2024, Yen took advantage of her lover's absence to steal 1,5 luong of 24K gold, replacing it with fake gold.

On 21/10/2024, the victim inspected 15 gold rings, noticed irregularities, and confronted Yen. After admitting to the theft, Yen fled the area.

The victim reported the incident to the police, and a wanted warrant was issued for Yen in 10/2025.
