The homeowner in District 1 planned a renovation to enhance the apartment's amenities. Key requests included adding two private toilets for two bedrooms and completely relocating the kitchen. The main obstacle was the lack of existing drainage at the new locations, which were far from the technical shafts. Additionally, apartment regulations prohibited floor drilling. Many contractors declined the project upon hearing these requirements.
After exploring various options, the homeowner chose the Sanitoilet wastewater pump system from SFA Pumps. Instead of relying on gravity for water to flow down, these macerating and lifting pumps actively collect, grind (depending on the model), and pump waste through small pipes to the main drainage point. This innovative approach allows toilets to be installed far from the building's main wastewater line, whether horizontally or even against gravity, without needing to alter the floor structure. The compact unit fits discreetly behind the toilet or under a sink and operates automatically.
The project in TP HCM was completed in a few weeks. "Initially, I thought it would be very complex, but the construction process was much smoother than I imagined," the homeowner remarked.

Beyond this apartment, numerous other projects across the country have adopted macerating pump solutions, effectively solving the challenge of installing sanitary fixtures.
For instance, a project in Hanoi Old Quarter faced the problem of adding a toilet without existing drainage, while the space below was occupied by a neighbor's restaurant, preventing floor penetration. Similarly, in Binh Duong, a family wished to convert their rooftop into a fully equipped living space but could not implement a traditional drainage system. Both cases were resolved within one day using SFA Pumps' solutions.

According to an SFA Pumps representative, the demand for renovating living spaces is increasingly common, ranging from adding functional rooms and expanding kitchens to installing additional toilets. However, for many apartments or townhouses, fixed drainage systems remain the biggest barrier.
Drilling floors to install new pipes often causes dust, noise, additional costs, and may even be prohibited due to building regulations or structural limitations.
"Macerating and lifting pump solutions help collect and pump waste directly at the source. This gives homeowners greater flexibility in redesigning their spaces," the representative stated.
In Vietnam, SFA Pumps – a French brand with nearly 70 years of experience in wastewater treatment – has been present since 2015. Over more than 10 years, the company has implemented 300 projects nationwide, from apartments and townhouses to restaurants, eateries, shops, and hospitals.
