90 kg weight loss thanks to mother-in-law's menu

After reaching 213 kg due to post-natal nourishment from her mother-in-law, 27-year-old Xiao Guo lost 90 kg in one year, following a diet prepared by her.

Xiao Guo lives in Xinxiang city, Henan province. During her confinement period, her 53-year-old mother-in-law, Wang Aihong, handled all household chores, lulled her grandchild to sleep, and prepared milk at night. Guo ate 5 to 6 meals daily, primarily fried foods, sweets, and snacks.

"If I was hungry at 1 or 2 am, my mother-in-law would immediately get up to cook and meet all my requests," Guo said.

According to Wang, she wanted to compensate her daughter-in-law because she herself struggled after marriage without a mother-in-law's support. This diet caused Guo's weight to increase to 213 kg. At this weight, she was out of breath after walking 30 to 40 meters, could not tie her own shoes, her stomach touched the steering wheel when driving, and she had difficulty holding her child. Guo often felt self-conscious and avoided going out. During these times, Wang would encourage her: "You didn't eat anything from anyone else, there's nothing to be ashamed of."

Realizing her daughter-in-law's difficulty moving, Wang changed her approach. The two women adopted a rule of no eating after 8 pm. Wang researched nutritional knowledge herself, replacing fried foods with a low-oil, low-salt menu, focusing on protein and fiber such as shrimp egg soup, mixed salad, and lightly stir-fried beef. Every two weeks, Guo was allowed one free meal of her choice.

Cutting calories combined with increased physical activity as her body gradually lightened helped Guo lose weight continuously. After over one year of maintaining discipline, Guo lost a total of 90 kg, decreasing to 123 kg. The World Journal reported that in one month, she lost up to 25 kg.

Currently, Guo displays a photo of herself at 213 kg in her living room to remind herself to maintain her physique. She stated that her journey to regain health was thanks to her mother-in-law's constant companionship.

For her part, Wang stated that her only goal was to help her daughter-in-law be healthy. "I am not afraid of hardship," she said.
