Cai Lo Nuong's mooncake collection celebrates Vietnamese agricultural products

The "Full Moon - Prosperous Autumn" collection takes inspiration from Vietnam's harvest season, incorporating flavors like soursop, star fruit, and pomelo into its sweet treats.

This Mid-Autumn Festival, Cai Lo Nuong introduces 9 new mooncake flavors. The brand has carefully selected Vietnamese agricultural products from various regions, which skilled artisans then transform into memorable mooncakes.

Sweet mooncakes embodying the essence of Vietnamese agriculture

In Vietnam, each season boasts its own distinctive fruit flavors: mango and lychee in summer; pomelo and persimmon in autumn. Even in the cold winter, there are delicious and nutritious fruits, while spring brings the refreshing scent of early blossoms. This year, Cai Lo Nuong captures these "hometown flavors" in a colorful array of mooncakes.

Among the most unique flavors in the collection is the "Star Fruit Pomelo Osmanthus." Crisp, juicy, and tart star fruit from Quang Nam or Vinh Long provinces is incorporated into a mooncake shaped like a flower bud. The soft crust envelops a golden filling, accented with chewy dried pomelo peel and a hint of osmanthus fragrance.

A distinguishing feature of Cai Lo Nuong's mooncakes is that "the crust is also the filling." The white bean crust recipe, a result of over a year of research by the R&D team, allows for well-defined shapes, a smooth texture, and just the right moisture content, appealing to both sight and taste.

A highlight of this year's collection is the "Soursop Lotus Seed" mooncake, which blends the tartness of soursop from the Mekong Delta with the sweet nuttiness of white lotus seeds from Dong Thap and Ho Tay. The hand-ground filling, interspersed with pieces of chewy dried soursop, offers a delightful experience.

The "Lychee Rose" mooncake, shaped like a flower, combines the flavor of Luc Ngan and Thanh Ha lychees with the fragrance of Da Lat roses. Many customers describe its taste as both romantic and pure.

Lotus seed, with its soft, chewy texture and nutritional value, is also a key ingredient in Cai Lo Nuong's offerings this year. The "Golden Lotus Seed Dried Mango" mooncake is a blend of golden lotus seed and sweet and sour Hoa Loc mango, capturing the essence of autumn. Meanwhile, the "Coconut Milk Coffee" mooncake, made with rich coconut from Ben Tre and the slightly bitter, aromatic coffee of the Central Highlands, creates a modern flavor that remains distinctly Vietnamese.

"Natural ingredients often lose their flavor during processing, so controlling the time, temperature, and stopping point of each stage is crucial to a mooncake's deliciousness, requiring meticulous care throughout production," a brand representative explained.

Savory mooncakes with a twist

While the sweet mooncakes showcase the flavors of famous growing regions, the savory collection offers a new and sophisticated experience.

The "Premium Truffle" is considered the most luxurious mooncake in this year's collection. The traditional baked crust, refined over the years, is smooth and boasts a beautiful brown sheen. The handmade filling, made with 4 types of mushrooms, including premium truffles, blended with shiitake mushrooms, candied fruit, nuts, and more, creates a balanced sweet and savory flavor with an unforgettable aroma.

Meanwhile, the "Beef Black Pepper" mooncake offers a rich, aromatic, and mildly spicy experience. The filling also includes candied fruit and nuts, giving the mooncake a pleasant texture and leaving a lasting impression.

The "Seafood Tom Yum" mooncake takes diners on a culinary adventure, combining abalone, scallops, dried shrimp, ham, and more. Its harmonious sweet, salty, sour, and spicy flavors are complemented by the fragrance of Thai kaffir lime leaves.

Notably, "Salmon Orange Sauce," a popular dish in European restaurants, is also featured in Cai Lo Nuong's most premium mooncake box. The brand's artisans are confident that the fragrant orange zest from the sauce and the sweet candied orange peel will captivate taste buds.

Personalized packaging

In addition to focusing on flavor, Cai Lo Nuong invests in packaging design, transforming each mooncake box into a heartfelt gift. The recipient's name and the brand logo are printed directly on each box.

Personalization on a large scale requires seamless coordination between departments and significant operational effort. However, with nearly a decade of experience fulfilling millions of cake orders, Cai Lo Nuong has brought this idea to life. This also helps the brand impress corporate clients who value creativity in their Mid-Autumn Festival gifts.

Besides the "Full Moon" and "Prosperous" boxes, this year the brand also introduces the "Nguyet Slay" mini mooncake bag, designed specifically for Gen Z. This is the first year the brand has offered 60g mooncakes, along with a DIY bag with a foldable design, vibrant colors, and the potential for reuse as a fashion accessory.

"Cai Lo Nuong maintains the philosophy that delicious cakes must start with good ingredients, and good ingredients come from fertile land. Each mooncake this year is also a 'vote' of support for local agricultural products, contributing to the continued flourishing of orchards, rice paddies, lotus ponds, and more through many seasons," a Cai Lo Nuong representative stated.

The Cai Lo Nuong brand has been present in Ho Chi Minh City for 10 years, renowned for its pastries, birthday cakes, flans, fresh fruit mousse, and mooncakes for the Mid-Autumn Festival.
