Can Tho abuzz with Kun Marathon race-kit distribution

Parents flocked to Song Hau Park on the morning of 12/9 to collect race-kits for their children participating in the Kun Marathon, with many families arriving early to let their kids soak in the atmosphere.

On the morning of 12/9, the Song Hau Park area in Can Tho city was bustling with activity as parents brought their children to collect race-kits for the Kun Marathon, a race for children aged 6 to 10. The race-kit included a running shirt, a bib with the child's printed name, a hat, and items from sponsors.

Many parents said they arrived early while the weather was still cool to allow their children time to explore the event area and take photos.

Many families arrived early, not only to collect race-kits but also to take commemorative photos and check in with the adorable Kun brand mascots.

Trung's family traveled from Ho Chi Minh City to Can Tho for his son to participate in the Kun Marathon. He said he has been a participant in the VnExpress Marathon system for the past three years, most recently at the Nha Trang race. Each time, he has kept an eye on the Kun Marathon, the children's event held the day before the main race.

"I've been eagerly waiting for my son to be old enough to participate. As soon as he met the age requirement, I signed him up immediately so he could have this experience," he said.

After his son completes the run on 14/9, Trung's entire family will participate in the VnExpress Marathon Can Tho 2024. Trung registered for the 42 km distance, while his wife and son will run the 5 km, as a way for the family to exercise and bond together at a professionally organized sporting event.

Some children actively sought out check-in areas featuring the Kun mascot to take pictures with their friends. Details such as the welcome gate, a board displaying the names of all Kun runners, and cartoon character models were recognized and loved by many children.

Hai Diem, who lives and works at a sports club in Can Tho, said he registered his daughter for the Kun Marathon as soon as he read about it in VnExpress.

His daughter eagerly awaited the day to receive her race-kit and running shirt with her name on it. They experienced a minor issue with a QR code during the collection process, but the organizers provided prompt assistance, ensuring a quick resolution.

Many parents expressed their joy at receiving running shirts with their children's names printed on them. The shirts are not just race attire, but also serve as encouragement and motivation for the children to approach race day with enthusiasm and confidence.

In addition to the main activities, the event also featured exciting side activities such as Kun jelly slides, interactive mini-games, and physical play areas like the "Strong Race Track," "Super Kun Hands," and "Super Memory." Many children from the same sports teams participated in the games together.

Gia Linh and Xuan Thanh, 5th graders at Mac Dinh Chi Primary School in Can Tho, shared that they asked their parents to take them to the race-kit distribution point right after school. Both were excited to receive their gear and prepare for the race.

"Besides Thanh and me, many of our dance team friends also registered. I'm so excited, I probably won't be able to sleep tonight, just waiting for tomorrow morning to run," said Gia Linh.

Receiving their race bibs with their names printed on them brought uncontainable joy to many children. After collecting their items, they took photos with friends to capture the memorable moment before the race.

The Kun Marathon Can Tho 2025, held at Song Hau Park, attracted over 2,000 children aged 6 to 10. The young runners will test their skills on a nearly one-kilometer course featuring dynamic obstacles such as ball pits, inflatable houses, climbing walls, and tunnels. This promises to be the largest gathering of young athletes in the Mekong Delta region.
