Kun Marathon Vung Tau energizes 2,000 children before new school year

On the morning of 29/8, 2,000 children aged 6-10 conquered a 1km race around Tam Giac Park, Bai Truoc area, overcoming various obstacles to prepare physically for the new academic year.

The Kun Marathon Vung Tau took place during the 2/9 holiday, a time when many children had just begun adjusting to their new classes. Families brought their children to the race to boost their energy for the 9-month school year ahead.

The race aimed to encourage a spirit of initiative and overcoming challenges. Before the start, the Kun Runners said goodbye to their parents and lined up with the organizers. Artist Truong Giang and the "Cool Kun Team" consistently encouraged the children to increase their physical activity and maintain discipline.

The 2,000 Kun Runners were divided into 5 groups, each with a different colored uniform, according to age. At 7h, the youngest group approached the starting line. Subsequent groups followed, helping the organizers manage the density on the course.

The 1km race course encircled Tam Giac Park, passing along Quang Trung, Ba Cu, and Le Loi streets, with a barrier separating runners from spectators. The organizers set up several soft obstacles, requiring children to climb, crawl, balance, or jump over them. Children had to observe and adjust their pace continuously, not just run as fast as possible. Outside the fence, many parents ran alongside their children, holding up phones to record the journey.

Nguyen Triet, from TP HCM, was the first to cross the finish line. He had just started primary school a few days prior, and this was his first time participating in a children's race.

Ms. Hang, the boy's mother, said that at home, her son regularly engages in activities like triathlon, balance bike, martial arts music, and football. Triet's younger sister also ran with him. Welcoming her 2 children at the finish line, Ms. Hang mentioned that the family would take advantage of 3 days to play in Vung Tau.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Lap, also from TP HCM, dressed her son Gia Huy (7 years old) in a distinctive outfit: an "ao ba ba" shirt, a scarf with "Viet Nam" printed on the back, a conical hat adorned with a pinwheel, and Kun milk boxes. She hoped to create more joy for her son before the new school year.

In addition to her son, Ms. Lap also brought 3 nephews to participate in the Kun Marathon Vung Tau. The children said the race offered many new experiences. After crossing the finish line, all 4 children stayed at the stage to play further.

The stage area hosted continuous activities throughout the morning. Artist Truong Giang, along with TikTokers Phong Can, Sheep, Tam Tuot Boi Boi, artistic freestyle footballer Trong Thy, and singer Candy Ngoc Ha, took turns energizing the atmosphere.

Near the finish line, the organizers arranged 5 experience zones: basketball, pickleball, football, Kun Farm, and Multi-Sport. These zones were open throughout the event, allowing children to play both before and after the race, providing entertainment while developing agility, dexterity, and sportsmanship.

The Kun Marathon is a race for children aged 6-10, held alongside the VnExpress Marathon and as part of the Kunlympic campaign "Exercise with Kun every day". The program encourages children to actively participate in sports, improve physical fitness, and share joy with others.

Immediately following the Kun Marathon, the VnExpress Vung Tau International Half Marathon Herbalife Cup 2026 was scheduled for the early morning of 30/8, featuring 3 distances: 5km, 10km, and 21km, attracting over 7,000 athletes. Many families who attended the Kun Marathon on the morning of 29/8 were also expected to participate in the adult race the next day.
