Living in Tam Don village, Jiangdu district, Yangzhou city, Wang Liangguo, 104, and his younger brother Wang Liangfu, 101, maintain sharp minds and good hearing.
Born into poverty, the two brothers worked as construction workers from the age of 12, spending nearly their entire lives on building sites. In their old age, they returned to their hometown, enjoying a slower pace of life and receiving care from their children in rotation. Living next door to each other, the two often walk and chat around the village daily.
The brothers' daily habits go against common dietary restrictions. Liangfu states he still smokes half a pack of cigarettes and drinks a little wine every evening. Liangguo also shares that both enjoy meat, especially pork hock. Despite their children repeatedly advising them to reduce smoking and drinking, the two men maintain these habits.
Wang Dang Soai, Liangguo’s son, says his father and uncle lead a disciplined life, sleeping early, waking early, and not being picky eaters. In addition to their three main meals, they eat pastries and have a midnight snack. "I don't eat as much as they do", Dang Soai comments.
When asked about their longevity secret, the two brothers summarize it in nine characters: "Good life, good children, good mindset." Dang Soai adds that his father and uncle always maintain a cheerful spirit and do not complain.
In addition to family care, each brother receives a monthly allowance of 500 Chinese yuan (approximately 1,7 million dong) from the state. Local social workers also regularly visit their homes to provide free haircuts and health check-ups.
