Kun runners excited for Vung Tau race

Many children, fresh from school, urged their parents to take them immediately to collect their race bibs, hoping to finish first in the Kun Marathon Vung Tau 2026 race.

On 28/8, Tam Giac Park on Quang Trung street, Vung Tau ward, Ho Chi Minh City, was bustling more than usual. From early morning, merchandise and gift exchange booths continuously welcomed families collecting bibs and race kits, and familiarizing themselves with the Kun Marathon Vung Tau competition area.Luu Kha My, whose family lives in central Ho Chi Minh City, participated in the Kun Marathon race at Thao Cam Vien earlier this year with her close group of friends. Her father said that after school in the morning, she wanted to go to Vung Tau immediately to collect her bib. Taking advantage of the race, My's family also planned to spend two days in Vung Tau. "This is my first time racing far from home, I am very excited", My shared.

Studying at an elementary school in Tam Thang ward, two sisters, Thuc Lam (10 years old) and Thuc Nguyen (7 years old), were taken by their mother to Tam Giac Park to collect their bibs right after school, fearing they might miss out. Ms. Hoa, the children's mother, shared that when her family learned about the race for children, they were all excited, counting down the days until the event. Participating in Kun Marathon for the first time, Lam hopes to finish first.

Seven-year-old Le Hai, who lives in Tam Thang ward, was encouraged by his parents to join the race to be active, confident, and healthy. Hai did not say much about his race plan, only hoping to successfully cross the finish line, and mentioned that he particularly likes Kun milk. "Every day, I drink one carton at noon", Hai said.

Nguyen Huu Tuan's family in Vung Tau eagerly collected bibs for their child. The parents run the VnExpress Marathon for adults, while their child participates in the Kun Marathon for children. Mr. Tuan stated that the race provided his family with a meaningful holiday.

Proudly displaying bib number 13193, Tran Vo Phuong Thao, from Le Loi elementary school in Tam Thang ward, also shared her intention to finish first. Her leg had been sore a few days prior, but upon hearing her teacher introduce the race, Thao immediately asked her mother to register. Thao explained that she usually plays chase with her friends at school, so she is not worried about the 1 km distance of the Kun Marathon. The child was delighted to receive a free race kit from the organizers and plans to keep it as a souvenir.

Le Thanh Truc (8 years old) was escorted by her mother and sister from Tien Giang to Vung Tau to run the Kun Marathon. Her mother explained that running helps Truc enhance her sporting spirit and physical activity. When participating in a competition, after registering, she always plans her training, running for about 5 minutes each day. This is Truc's sixth time participating in the Kun Marathon. However, she only hopes to finish second. "Finishing first will definitely be very difficult", the child said.

After collecting their bibs, two Kun Runners enjoyed Kun milk, recharging and getting ready for the race on the morning of 29/1. On its first visit to the coastal city, Kun attracted 2,000 Kun Runners. Vung Tau is the latest leg of the race series, following Ho Chi Minh City, Hue, Can Tho, Da Nang, Nha Trang, and Hai Phong.

In addition to the 1 km race, Kun Marathon Vung Tau offers many activities for children. Also at Tam Giac Park, five experience zones including basketball, pickleball, football, Kun Farm, and multi-sport, all embodying the Kunlympic spirit, are open throughout the event. Children can try these sports both before and after the race, providing entertainment while developing agility, dexterity, and sportsmanship.

The stage also features several popular celebrities, including artist Truong Giang, TikTokers Phong Can, Sheep, Tam Tuot Boi Boi, freestyle football athlete Trong Thy, and singer Candy Ngoc Ha. These KOLs arrived early to interact with and cheer on the children.
