Low Kok Peng, 61, received a two-month prison sentence on 24/4 after admitting to bigamy. Prosecutors stated in court that Low's actions were a carefully planned scheme to circumvent the law.
Low's relationship with Komariah, 50, an Indonesian domestic worker, began in 2016 after friends introduced them. Despite being in a legal marriage for 24 years, Low maintained this relationship. In early 2024, Low and Komariah traveled to Batam island, Indonesia, to hold their wedding ceremony. After the wedding, Low returned to Singapore, continuing to live with his first wife and children while also maintaining contact with Komariah.

The secret marriage came to light when Singapore's Ministry of Manpower (MOM) noticed irregularities in Komariah's work permit conditions. The subsequent investigation uncovered the truth, and Low's first wife learned of the bigamy only after police intervention.
Komariah stated she was unaware of Low's marital status until her arrest. She now faces charges of bigamy and violating her work permit conditions by marrying without official approval. Her case will be tried separately.
Under Singaporean law, bigamy carries a maximum penalty of 7 years in prison and a fine exceeding 7,800 USD.
