He plans to remain in the room for exactly 365 days, livestreaming his daily activities 24/7 on YouTube for public oversight. "This is not a stunt for fame," said the former construction contractor. "It's a last-ditch effort to avoid falling into the same trap as the previous generation: becoming old, weak, and passive."

Skip's turning point began in 2021 when he resigned after 13 years as a construction contractor at Alaskan oil fields, working a 28-day on, 28-day off cycle. Leaving that demanding yet high-paying environment, he found himself disoriented at home. His weight surged to 142 kg, and mental lethargy left him constantly exhausted.
To undertake this challenge, his master bedroom was converted into a self-contained space, complete with a toilet, a fully equipped gym area with weights and resistance bands, and a small kitchenette. His wife supported him by moving to another room, daily grocery shopping, and placing food outside his door. Despite living under the same roof, the couple communicates only via text or video calls. They established an "emergency stop button": the project would be immediately canceled if either felt overwhelmed.
"This is how I force myself not to quietly give up or sugarcoat the truth," Skip explained regarding the livestream.

After nearly a month of "solitary confinement", Skip reported positive signs: he successfully quit sugary sodas, adopted healthier eating habits, and felt more mentally clear. His goal is to lose 50 kg, aiming to celebrate his 50th birthday with a completely new body and mind.
To achieve rapid weight loss, Skip adopted a Carnivore diet, consuming only meat and animal products, combined with intermittent fasting. His daily menu completely eliminated carbohydrates, sugar, and vegetables, replaced instead by steaks, fried eggs, and bacon, all prepared and delivered by his wife.
Once addicted to sugary sodas and fast food, Skip now drinks only plain water. The abrupt sugar reduction led to "Keto flu" symptoms like fatigue and headaches during the first week. However, his body eventually adapted and began burning excess fat more efficiently.
However, this extreme method has raised concerns among experts. Sally Baker, a senior psychotherapist in the US, warned that severing direct social connections is a "double-edged sword."
"Loneliness can erode mental health. True resilience is not forged in a vacuum, but by maintaining discipline amidst the distractions of real life," the expert commented.
Despite the warnings, Skip remains steadfast. "After 50, life is still long," he said. "I want to live the rest of my life in the most deserving way."
