Nha Trang weekend travel guide combined with Kun Marathon

With Kun Marathon on 23/8 and VnExpress Marathon on 24/8, Nha Trang becomes an ideal destination for families to combine relaxation and sports.

Nha Trang has long been considered an attractive beach destination. This weekend, the city is even more exciting thanks to two consecutive sporting events: Kun Marathon for children on 23/8 and VnExpress Marathon for adults on 24/8. Besides participating in these two health-focused events, parents can take their children to explore child-friendly destinations in Nha Trang.

Kun Marathon - a playground for children

Kun Marathon Nha Trang 2025 takes place on the morning of 23/8 at 2/4 Square, and is expected to attract more than 2,000 young athletes from 6 to 10 years old. The children will experience a nearly one-kilometer run with many fun obstacles such as bouncy houses, inflatable houses, and obstacle courses.

In addition to the main competition, the organizers have arranged sideline games, a music stage, and artist meet-and-greets to create a festive atmosphere for the whole family. Children who complete the run will receive medals and gifts from sponsors. This is not only a sporting activity but also helps children improve their health, teamwork spirit, and create childhood memories with their parents.

VnExpress Marathon - a large-scale race with 13,000 athletes

Right after Kun Marathon, on the morning of 24/8, VnExpress Marathon Nha Trang 2025 kicks off with four distances: 5 km, 10 km, 21 km, and 42 km, expected to attract about 13,000 domestic and international athletes. The route passes through coastal roads and central streets, offering an experience that combines exercise with views of the blue sea and white sand.

This is an opportunity for parents to improve their endurance, challenge themselves with friends and colleagues, and inspire their children with sports. The street festival atmosphere and cheers from spectators along the route contribute to making Nha Trang a vibrant destination for the running community. Children 12 and older can also participate in this tournament in the 5 km or 10 km distances.

Fun and educational destinations for children

Besides the race, Nha Trang has many family-friendly destinations. VinWonders Nha Trang (Hon Tre Island), connected to the mainland by a 3.3 km cable car, features a thrilling zone, water park, aquarium, 4D cinema, and art performances. Tri Nguyen Aquarium (Hon Mieu Island) displays hundreds of marine species in a space simulating an ancient ship. Nha Trang Oceanography Institute houses over 20,000 specimens, making it suitable for turning a trip into a "field trip".

If the weather is unfavorable, shopping malls like Vincom have indoor play areas for children.

Exploring nature and culture

Families who enjoy outdoor activities can choose Hon Tam Island (clear sea, smooth sand, mud bath services, diving, kayaking, jet skiing), Monkey Island (thousands of monkeys living naturally, circus performances, folk games), or Bai Tranh (near the center, peaceful scenery).

Culturally, Ponagar Tower is a symbol of Cham architecture, while Dam Market is not only a place to buy specialties like dried squid, bird's nest, and mango cakes but also offers a traditional market experience. After the race, the whole family can relax at Thap Ba Hot Springs, or travel 40-60 minutes to explore Ba Ho Waterfall and Yang Bay Waterfall.

Cuisine and relaxing spaces

Nha Trang's cuisine is famous for its fresh seafood at reasonable prices. Families can choose from Nha Trang Fishing Village, Gio Bien Restaurant, or Ngoc Trai Vang. Local specialties include grilled fermented pork rolls, refreshing jellyfish vermicelli noodles, and rustic banh can (mini savory pancakes).

For a change of pace, cafes like Iced Coffee, Runam Bistro, or international ice cream shops all have spacious areas suitable for children.

Preparation and travel notes

Families should register for the race online early to secure a spot and book train tickets and island tour services through reputable agents to save time. For transportation, taxis, ride-hailing services, or private car rentals are all convenient.

Essential items: running shoes, breathable sportswear, sunscreen, hats, and drinking water. For children, it is recommended to bring personal life jackets, insect repellent, and some basic medical supplies. Arranging a balanced itinerary between running and sightseeing will help the whole family have a safe and fulfilling experience.
