After 22h on 1/4, Chu Van Dao, 34, a ride-hailing driver in Vo Cuong Ward, accepted a ride to take a female passenger from Pho Va area to Bac Ninh Provincial General Hospital. En route, noticing the passenger clutching her stomach in pain, her face pale, the driver proactively helped her into the emergency room upon arrival.
Seeing the passenger was alone, Dao decided to stay and complete admission procedures, pay the advance hospital fees, and push her wheelchair for tests and ultrasounds.
Close to 0h on 2/4, he only left when the woman was stable. Before departing, the driver left his phone number with the doctor and the patient in case of an emergency.
“Seeing the passenger in that situation, I decided to turn off the app and stay,” Dao said. “I lost a few fares, but I couldn't abandon someone in distress.”

The female passenger Dao helped that night was Le Thi Huyen Trang, from Trieu Son, Thanh Hoa. She had just moved to Bac Ninh for work at the end of March and had no friends to rely on. Trang was concerned about affecting Dao's income, so she repeatedly urged him to leave, but the driver insisted on staying.
“Seeing him rushing around to complete procedures and pushing the wheelchair for ultrasounds, I was very touched,” Trang recounted. When he left, Dao even refused the fare.
After two days of treatment and being discharged, Trang contacted him to return the hospital fees he had paid on the night of 1/4.

The video Trang posted on social media, showing the driver rushing to complete hospital admission procedures for a stranger, attracted hundreds of thousands of views. “In Vietnam, you always meet good people on the street,” commented account An Nhi.
Dao, from Dong Kinh Ward, Lang Son, who had only been a ride-hailing driver for three months, considered his actions a small matter. “Being in the same situation, working far from home, I saw they needed help in a critical moment, so I just helped,” he said.
