Clothes dryers are useful devices during humid seasons but consume a large amount of electricity. To address this, Peter Walsh, a cleaning expert in the UK, shares a simple tip: just add a clean, dry bath towel to the drum along with the wet load.
Explaining the mechanism, cleaning expert Laura Avila from the US states that the dry towel acts as a "mini dehumidifier." As the cycle begins, the towel rapidly absorbs excess water from the wet clothes. This reduces the amount of work the dryer needs to do to evaporate all that moisture. Additionally, the towel helps separate tightly clumped laundry items, creating space for hot air to circulate more effectively.

Here is the procedure:
Preparation: Select a clean bath towel with good absorbency (such as thick cotton) that is completely dry.
Arrangement: Place your wet clothes into the dryer, then lay the dry towel on top of the load, and start the machine.
Towel removal (important step): Run the machine for about 15-20 minutes, then pause to remove the towel. At this point, the towel will have absorbed significant moisture from the laundry. Removing it promptly helps prevent this moisture from returning to the clothes.
Completion: Continue the normal drying cycle until the load is thoroughly dry.
