10-car pileup on Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressway

A truck failed to maintain a safe distance and collided with a 7-seater car, causing a chain reaction involving nine other vehicles on the afternoon of 2/9.

Around 5 PM on Saturday, the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressway heading towards Ho Chi Minh City was congested after the 2/9 holiday. Approximately 800 meters from the National Highway 1A interchange in Xuan Hoa commune, a truck rear-ended a 7-seater car. This triggered a chain reaction, impacting eight other vehicles.

All 10 vehicles sustained significant damage to their front and rear ends. Fortunately, there were no serious injuries. The accident caused localized traffic jams on the expressway. Traffic police arrived to manage traffic flow and investigate the cause of the accident.

The 99-km Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressway, connecting Dong Nai and Lam Dong provinces, represents an investment of over 12,500 billion VND. The route has seen a recent increase in accidents, primarily attributed to drivers failing to maintain safe following distances.
