The accident blocked the highway, causing a traffic jam stretching over 5 km from the Linh Xuan overpass towards the Mekong Delta. This route typically sees heavy truck and container traffic heading to the Thu Duc wholesale market, further complicating the situation for drivers. Thousands of vehicles were stuck in traffic for two hours. Motorbikes weaved through the gaps between vehicles and even drove onto the sidewalks to get around the congestion.
Traffic police arrived to assess the scene and remove the damaged trucks. By 10 a.m., traffic was moving slowly through the area.

Highway 1 through Ho Chi Minh City is divided into three sections. The first, 21 km long, runs from the Thu Duc intersection (formerly known as Tram 2 intersection) to the An Suong intersection. The second section, over 14 km long, runs from An Suong to An Lac. The third section, 9.4 km long, stretches from An Lac to the Long An province border. These three sections were renamed Do Muoi, Le Duc Anh, and Le Kha Phieu at the end of 2024.
