While playing, the boy and a friend moved to the deeper pool. He unfortunately slipped, fell in, and drowned, turning blue and ceasing to breathe. On-site personnel attempted resuscitation, but the victim could not be saved. His body was then transported to the morgue at Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital.
According to witnesses, the pools were crowded at the time of the incident. The victim's father may not have been attentive, allowing the boy to wander into the dangerous deep section of the pool.
According to data from the Ministry of Health, nearly 2,000 children aged 5-14 drown in Vietnam each year. The Ministry has advised local authorities to equip children with water safety skills, expand safe swimming programs in schools and communities, and raise public awareness to prevent accidents.
