Ngo Thi Ngoc Huyen, the boy's mother, stated that for the past 25 days, her 3-year-old son struggled on his hospital bed, clinging to faint hope from his family, but "no miracle occurred." The family is now arranging to take the boy home for burial according to local customs.

The Thanh Hoa Provincial Police reported that the investigative police agency is currently conducting an autopsy and investigation within its jurisdiction, having initially determined that "the incident shows signs of intentional injury."

Previously, Ms. Huyen, 22, residing in Nghi Son Ward, reported that her son, Le Thanh Gia Bao, who was born prematurely and had developmental delays, was sent to an intervention education facility run by Ms. Han Thi Hang in Hai Binh Ward starting 22/6 for rehabilitation support. The monthly tuition was 5 million VND.

During his time at the facility, her son returned home multiple times with bruises. On the afternoon of 10/7, when picking him up, she discovered a large bruise on the boy's right flank, accompanied by lethargy, cyanosis, and difficulty breathing, prompting her to rush him to the emergency room.

Thanh Hoa Children's Hospital diagnosed the boy with pancreatic contusion, duodenal contusion, fractured ribs, internal bleeding, respiratory failure, circulatory failure, and many other injuries. Due to his critical condition, the patient was transferred to National Children's Hospital for further treatment.

Suspecting the boy had been abused during his time at the intervention class, the family questioned the teacher in charge. The teacher explained that the injuries might have been caused by a student around 13 years old in the same class. Gia Bao's class had 20 students, ranging from three to 13 years old, with Ms. Huyen's son being the youngest.

The family filed a complaint with authorities, requesting clarification on the cause. According to Hai Binh Ward leaders, Ms. Han Thi Hang, 33, has been directly organizing childcare, intervention, and guidance activities for children since 2024. The facility admitted children with disabilities, autism, ADHD, and those with communication and language difficulties.

The Department of Education and Training determined that Ms. Hang's private class operated without a license. To facilitate the investigation, the Hai Binh Ward People's Committee requested Ms. Hang to temporarily cease all activities involving the admission and care of children.
