Scene of motorbike parking lot fire in TP HCM

About 50 motorbikes were destroyed, many reduced to frames, after a fire erupted at a 1,000 m2 parking lot in Di An ward.

Vehicles parked close together, some still containing fuel, caused the fire to spread rapidly, destroying about 50 units.

A massive fire at a 1,000 m2 motorbike parking lot in Di An ward, TP HCM, destroyed about 50 motorbikes, reducing many to charred frames. The incident, which erupted around 10:30 PM on 3/8, led to a police investigation the following morning, 4/8. The parking lot, operated by Phuong Nam motorbike store on Nguyen Tri Phuong street, was engulfed in flames with multiple explosions.

Upon discovering the blaze, residents attempted to extinguish it with fire extinguishers and water, but their efforts were unsuccessful. As the fire intensified, multiple explosions occurred, forcing those attempting to fight the fire to retreat. Dozens of police officers and specialized vehicles were dispatched to the scene, and the blaze was brought under control within about 15 minutes.

Two motorbike exhaust pipes remained at the scene. The parking lot belongs to Phuong Nam store, a large-scale motorbike and automobile business operating in Di An.

Many motorbikes, parked close together, were burned down to their frames. Most were older models, alongside some common motorbikes. According to residents, the store owner had moved several vehicles from the lot before the fire broke out.

A mini fire extinguisher was found at the scene. Residents managed to move some vehicles out, but they sustained severe damage. Lam, a resident living near the parking lot, stated that the fire erupted and spread too quickly for anyone to relocate more vehicles.

The adjacent pawn shop, also owned by the parking lot operator, suffered partial damage and smoke staining, but the items inside were minimally affected.

The intense heat caused the metal roof covering the parking lot to collapse. Nguyen Tri Phuong street, particularly the section passing through Di An ward, is known for its concentration of used motorbike businesses. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire.
