Around 500 motorbikes destroyed in fire under Vinh Tuy bridge

Initial reports indicate approximately 500 motorbikes were destroyed in a parking lot fire under Hanoi's Vinh Tuy bridge, causing significant damage to the bridge's underside.

Approximately 500 motorbikes were destroyed in a fire on the afternoon of 30/8 under Hanoi’s Vinh Tuy bridge, according to a rapid report from the People's Committee of Hong Ha ward. The fire, which engulfed about 300 square meters, occurred at a parking lot located at 335 Nguyen Khoai street.

Witnesses reported that the fire started at an electrical box outside the road near pillar T2 of the Vinh Tuy bridge before spreading to the parking lot. Parking lot attendants and a nearby auto repair garage attempted to extinguish the flames with fire extinguishers but were unsuccessful. The fire department dispatched at least eight fire trucks to the scene.

The area under the Vinh Tuy bridge serves as a vehicle parking lot managed by Hanoi Parking Exploitation One Member Limited Liability Company and Giang Linh Transportation and Forwarding Company Limited.

The fire caused extensive damage to the underside of the Vinh Tuy bridge, with many concrete sections broken, pillars chipped, exposing the steel core, and covered in thick black soot.

Hanoi’s Department of Construction stated they would collaborate with consultants and bridge management to assess the damage's impact on the bridge’s structure and safety.
