Blue diamond-shaped arena in Quang Tri

After three years of construction, the multi-purpose sports arena, designed like a blue diamond and featuring a height of nearly 27 meters, a total area of 9,200 square meters, and seating for 2,500 in Dong Thuan ward, is nearing completion.

The sports center in Dong Thuan ward, Quang Tri province, previously associated with Quang Binh province, spans over 14 hectares and is nearing completion. Its highlight is the multi-purpose sports arena shaped like a blue diamond. The facility is located more than one kilometer north of the provincial capital and is expected to be completed in the first Quarter of 2026.

Construction of the center began in early 1/2023 with an initial investment of 290 billion dong. The project includes a sports arena, football fields, basketball courts, and swimming pools. In early 11/2024, the 18th session of the former Quang Binh provincial People's Council adjusted the investment capital to 340 billion dong. This adjustment was made to enhance the project's completeness without altering its scale, ensuring the approved objectives, and further maximizing investment efficiency.

The multi-purpose arena is covered with low-e glass and blue perforated aluminum panels, forming a shape resembling a diamond. The structure features four entrances, one in each cardinal direction.

A section of the arena building, with diamond-shaped facets made of low-e glass combined with perforated aluminum ventilation panels. The flat glass surfaces are vertically oriented.

The construction team is cleaning the floor to complete the playing surface. The three-story arena stands nearly 27 meters tall, with a total area of 9,200 square meters and seating for 2,500.

Vo Tan Hieu, a representative of the construction unit, stated that audience seating has been installed, with only the VIP area's tables and chairs remaining to be completed.

Outside the arena, workers are installing stone cladding and cleaning the entrance staircases. The ground surrounding the arena is paved with natural stone. Green trees are planted around the sports center. In addition to sports facilities, the area also features a park-like landscape with walking paths, covering approximately 66,100 square meters.

The standard-sized football field, combined with an athletics track, covers an area of approximately 10,000 square meters. The artificial turf surface has been completed, and the VIP stands are being finalized.

The athletics track around the football field features eight lanes. Previously, Quang Binh had a stadium in the provincial center, but it was later repurposed for the construction of the current Ho Chi Minh Square.

Quang Tri province expects the center to enhance its modern and spacious sports infrastructure. It will provide opportunities for local athletes' training, development, and competition, gradually helping them achieve national and international sporting recognition. The facility will host provincial and national sports events.
