On 4/3, Cai Rang Ward Police in Can Tho City finalized procedures to transfer a pangolin to the Sub-Department of Rural Development and Forest Protection. The adult pangolin, measuring approximately 1,05 m in length and weighing 3,2 kg, will receive care before its release into its natural habitat.

The previous morning, Quang found the animal in the Tay Do Cultural Center resettlement area, located in area 3, Cai Rang ward. Recognizing the pangolin as a potentially rare and endangered wild animal requiring protection, he decided to proactively surrender it to the police.

Initial assessments confirmed the pangolin belongs to Group IB in the list of endangered, rare, and precious forest animals. This classification designates it for priority protection and includes its listing in the Vietnam Red Book, highlighting its critical conservation status.
