Both expressway directions dedicated to vehicles returning to Hanoi

On the 48 km Cao Bo - Dai Xuyen expressway section, southbound vehicles from Hanoi were diverted to national route 1, making way for the heavy flow of traffic returning to the capital on the afternoon of 1/9.

Traffic Police Team No. 3, under the Police Department for Traffic, implemented a plan to utilize both directions of the Cao Bo - Dai Xuyen expressway for vehicles traveling from the southern provinces back to Hanoi. This measure aims to prevent severe congestion at the conclusion of the National Day holiday.

Under this plan, some vehicles continue on their regular lane. Vehicles heading directly to Hanoi are diverted to the opposite carriageway at Km259, traveling to the Dai Xuyen interchange at Km211 before rejoining the original lanes.

Vehicles needing to exit the expressway at the Liem Son, Liem Tuyen, Phu Thu, or Vuc Vong interchanges will remain on the normal carriageway, utilizing lane 2 or 3.

To ensure opposing traffic flows do not encounter each other, vehicles traveling from Hanoi to the southern provinces must exit the expressway at the Dai Xuyen interchange and transfer to national route 1. Authorities also temporarily blocked southbound expressway entry at the Vuc Vong, Phu Thu, Liem Tuyen, and Liem Son interchanges.

This plan may continue on 2/9 if the volume of vehicles returning to Hanoi remains high. Police urge drivers to follow the designated lanes, avoid unauthorized lane changes, U-turns, or leaving the traffic flow. They also advise reducing speed, maintaining distance, and obeying temporary road signs.

This year's National Day holiday spans five days, from 29/8 to 2/9. The flow of vehicles returning to Hanoi began increasing on the afternoon of 1/9 and is expected to reach its peak on the final day of the holiday.

Previously, on 29/8, 15 sections of the North-South expressway recorded 321,776 vehicle movements, a 57.4% increase compared to 27/8. The Vietnam Road Administration reported that traffic on these routes remained largely smooth.
