This information was shared by Cao Xuan Thao, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, at a press conference on the morning of 1/6, launching the movement "All people join hands to protect the environment, for a green, clean, and beautiful Vietnam".
The movement focuses on five key areas: building green, clean, and beautiful families; residential areas; communes and wards; agencies, units, schools; and businesses and production facilities.
For households, the competition criteria include maintaining clean homes, kitchens, and alleys; not littering indiscriminately; sorting waste at the source; reducing the use of single-use plastic products; and developing green spaces. Residential areas strive to eliminate spontaneous dumpsites, keep village roads and alleys clean, establish tree-lined streets, and regularly organize environmental clean-ups.
At the commune and ward level, the movement aims to address long-standing pollution hotspots, improve environmental quality in rivers, lakes, canals, and public areas, and organize periodic general environmental clean-up campaigns.
Agencies and schools are encouraged to create green working environments, enhance communication, and educate about environmental protection. Businesses must comply with legal regulations, reduce waste generation, and apply clean technologies in production.

The nationwide movement aims to mobilize the participation of the entire political system, organizations, businesses, and people in environmental protection, fostering a civilized, environmentally friendly lifestyle, contributing to improved quality of life and sustainable development.
Community environmental monitoring teams are identified as a crucial solution and will be established in all residential areas. The team leader will be the Chairman of the Veterans Association branch, with members including representatives from youth unions, associations, local security forces, and exemplary individuals or respected community leaders in the area.
These teams are responsible for monitoring compliance with environmental protection laws. They will track, detect, and promptly report violations to Party committees, authorities, and functional agencies. Residents are encouraged to provide information, report, and denounce organizations, individuals, and production or business facilities that cause environmental pollution.
According to the Vietnam Fatherland Front, technology will be applied in monitoring through camera systems and digital platforms that receive public feedback. The Fatherland Front at all levels will enhance social scrutiny of socio-economic development projects, plans, and policies that directly impact the environment and people’s lives.

To incentivize the movement, a reward system will be implemented from the grassroots level to nationwide. Annually, outstanding households will receive commendation certificates from the commune-level Fatherland Front Committee. Residential areas, agencies, schools, and businesses achieving excellent results will be praised and rewarded by the People’s Committee and Fatherland Front at all levels.
At the provincial level, exemplary residential areas, communes, wards, agencies, units, schools, and businesses will receive commendation certificates from the provincial People’s Committee or provincial Fatherland Front Committee. Every five years, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front will select outstanding models nationwide for commendation certificates, while also proposing that the Prime Minister award groups with notable achievements that create significant community impact.
Steering committees at all levels will periodically score and evaluate the movement’s implementation results, making them public through mass media. Localities and units that perform well will be praised and their models replicated. Conversely, environmental law violations detected through monitoring activities will be forwarded to functional agencies for processing.
According to the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the movement will be simultaneously launched nationwide on World Environment Day on 5/6. Its goal is to make environmental protection a regular activity for every family, community, agency, school, and business, working towards building a green, clean, and beautiful Vietnam.
