Thousands of people with raincoats and umbrellas lined Lieu Giai street, greeting the convoy of soldiers as it passed by at 2:20 p.m.

The area around Lenin Park and the Hanoi Flag Tower on Dien Bien Phu street was also packed with people at 2 p.m., waiting for the parade.
