On the morning of 3/9, at the Ministry of National Defense headquarters, General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense, held talks with General Alvaro Lopez Miera, Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Cuba. General Giang welcomed the high-ranking Cuban delegation on their official visit and participation in the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day, 2/9.
He affirmed that over the past 65 years, the relationship between the two countries has become a shining example of pure, loyal, and enduring international solidarity. Vietnam will never forget Cuba's immense and heartfelt support during its difficult years. The immortal words of leader Fidel Castro, "For Vietnam, Cuba is willing to shed its own blood," serve as a brilliant symbol of this special friendship.
"Cuba is currently facing unprecedented difficulties, and Vietnam understands and stands ready to accompany and support Cuba within its capabilities," General Phan Van Giang shared.

General Alvaro Lopez Miera thanked Minister Phan Van Giang for the invitation, which coincided with the Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Year, commemorating 65 years of diplomatic relations. He expressed his deep impression of Vietnam and the 80th National Day celebrations, emphasizing that "Cuba is always proud to have Vietnam as a brother nation."
He affirmed his readiness to promote and strengthen the relationship between the two countries' armed forces. The long-standing defense cooperation has always been an important pillar, encompassing party and political work, training, defense industry, air defense - air force, and military medicine.
Looking ahead, Minister Phan Van Giang proposed that the two sides increase exchanges of high-ranking delegations, maintain exchanges of young officers, and share experiences. He also suggested strengthening communication efforts to inform the public, younger generations, and international friends about the special relationship between Vietnam and Cuba.
During his meeting with First Secretary and President of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez on 1/9, General Secretary To Lam announced the results of the "65 Years of Vietnam - Cuba Affection" support program, which mobilized nearly 400 billion VND. The two leaders then witnessed the first installment of 385 billion VND being presented to the Cuban people and the signing of a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in food production, healthcare, storage, and biotechnology.
Representatives of the two countries also laid wreaths and attached plaques at the monument honoring Cuban military experts, located within the complex commemorating the support and assistance of other countries during Vietnam's wars at the Vietnam Military History Museum.
