Da Nang hotel fined nearly 600 million VND

The 4-star ChicLand Danang Beach Hotel in Da Nang has been fined 564 million VND for 9 violations related to environmental protection and food safety.

On 15/9, the Da Nang People's Committee (UBND) announced that the city's chairman had signed a decision to penalize ChicLand Joint Stock Company, the owner of ChicLand Danang Beach Hotel (210 Vo Nguyen Giap Street, An Hai Ward, Son Tra District).

The hotel was fined 140 million VND for discharging untreated wastewater into the environment and another 140 million VND for failing to operate the wastewater treatment system according to regulations. Two other violations included failing to sign a contract with a licensed environmental unit for hazardous waste transfer (90 million VND) and improperly storing hazardous waste (90 million VND).

The hotel also received fines for inadequately implementing the environmental impact assessment report (70 million VND), failing to submit or incompletely submitting environmental protection reports (15 million VND), and littering on sidewalks and roads (3 million VND).

Regarding food safety, the hotel was fined 16 million VND: 8 million VND for not keeping food samples and 8 million VND for not following the three-step food inspection regulations.

In addition to the fines, the Da Nang People's Committee ordered the hotel to dismantle the illegal discharge system, clean the littered areas, implement pollution treatment measures, and report the results to the authorities.

On July 25, an interdisciplinary inspection team consisting of the Economic Police Department, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the An Hai Ward Police discovered the hotel discharging untreated wastewater, failing to operate the waste treatment system correctly, and other violations.

ChicLand Danang Beach Hotel, located near Bien Dong Park and about 8 km from Da Nang International Airport, has 145 rooms, many with ocean views.

In June, Da Nang San Ho Trading and Tourism Joint Stock Company, the investor of Temple Resort Danang (11 Vo Nguyen Giap Street), was also fined 224.5 million VND for environmental and food safety violations, including discharging wastewater improperly onto the beach.
