Dong Nai commends five people for saving three women from floodwaters

Phu Rieng Commune People's Committee recognized five residents who bravely rescued three women swept away by swift currents during heavy rain.

On 3/6, the Phu Rieng Commune People's Committee organized a ceremony to honor Nong Van Truong, Nguyen Huy Hung, Nguyen Van Hau, Pham Quang Hieu, and Pham Thi Thuong for their courageous actions in rescuing people during flood rains.

The previous evening, heavy rain impacted several communes in northern Dong Nai province, including Thuan Loi and Phu Rieng. This caused local streams to swell and flood the DT741 route. Near Suoi Den bridge, which borders Phu Rieng and Thuan Loi communes, powerful upstream water overflowed the road.

While attempting to cross the flooded area, three women unfortunately fell and were swept away by the current. Upon witnessing the incident, five local residents immediately sprang into action, bringing the victims to safety on the shore.

Nong Van Truong recounted that at the time of the incident, the rain was heavy, and the water flow was extremely strong. "Seeing the three people being swept away, we tied a rope to a utility pole and followed the current to reach them, bringing them to shore. The rescue took about 30 minutes," he stated.
