Around 20h, intense rainfall affected Dai Phuoc, Phuoc An, and Nhon Trach communes, resulting in severe flooding across numerous residential areas and local roads. Some internal routes within industrial zones were also submerged, complicating travel for residents and workers.
On Hung Vuong street, specifically the section passing through Phuoc An commune (formerly Vinh Thanh commune, Nhon Trach district), water from higher ground surged, causing many parts to flood to nearly one meter deep. Numerous motorbikes stalled, forcing people to push them through the water.
The floodwaters also entered many homes along both sides of the street. Residents quickly elevated their belongings and used pumps to remove water, trying to limit damage.
According to residents in the Vinh Thanh market area, the rain lasted over two hours, intensifying as it continued. Water flowing from the Nhon Trach industrial zones overwhelmed the drainage system, leading to rapid and deep flooding in the area. Many workers leaving their shifts found the roads impassable and had to wait for the water to recede.
Mr. Thanh, a merchant on Hung Vuong street, stated that the area frequently floods during heavy rain. Despite his family having built a high protective wall, water still managed to enter their home. "I have to pump the water out, otherwise all my belongings would be soaked," he stated, adding that this was the third time the area had flooded in September.

Heavy rain also caused localized flooding in some low-lying areas of Thanh Son commune, situated along the Dong Nai river. Local authorities proactively relocated many residents to safer locations.
Looking ahead, the Dong Nai Hydro-Meteorological Station reported that over the next 48-72 hours, the province is expected to continue experiencing moderate to heavy rain. Total rainfall is forecast to be commonly between 80-130 mm, with some areas potentially exceeding 130 mm. This period of heavy rain is likely to persist until the end of 24/9.
The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting issued a warning for the period from the afternoon of 21/9 to 24/9. The eastern parts of Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Khanh Hoa, Lam Dong, and the Southern region could experience 150-250 mm of rain per event, with localized areas seeing over 400 mm. There is also a risk of rainfall intensity exceeding 100 mm within three hours.
