Driver fined for U-turn on Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh Expressway

A 44-year-old male driver faces a 35 million VND fine and a 10-point license deduction for making a U-turn on the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway, disrupting traffic.

The incident led to a fine issued on 21/4 by Expressway Traffic Police Team 6, under the Traffic Police Department, Ministry of Public Security. The penalty was applied in accordance with Decree 168/2024.

Yesterday afternoon, the driver, operating a tractor-trailer transporting sand from Dong Nai to Ho Chi Minh City, stopped and made a U-turn in Long Thanh commune. This maneuver blocked three traffic lanes and the emergency lane for two minutes.

During questioning, the driver stated he had missed the exit for National Highway 51 and intended to turn around. Upon realizing the obstruction he was causing, he resumed driving in the correct direction.

The Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway, a 55 km route operational since 2015, serves as a main connector between Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai. To alleviate traffic congestion, certain sections are currently undergoing expansion from 4 to 8 lanes.
