On the afternoon of 18/9, heavy rain inundated Bien Hoa City, Trang Bom District, and the former Vinh Cuu District, causing severe flooding in many areas.
On Dong Khoi Street, Trang Dai Ward, water overflowed from alleyways, rushing onto the main road and creating strong currents. The steep slope between the residential area and the road intensified the water flow, posing a danger to motorcyclists.
At the Trang Dai intersection, where the water level rose to almost half a meter, many motorcyclists were hesitant to cross. Some truck and dump truck drivers stopped their vehicles in the middle of the road, acting as shields against the current, reducing the flow rate, and allowing motorcycles to pass safely.
About half an hour later, as the rain subsided, the water receded quickly, and traffic returned to normal.
"Whenever there's heavy rain in this area, water rushes out from the alleyways. Many people have fallen, and motorcycles have been swept away, requiring others to rush to their aid," Nguyen Van Thuong, a local resident, said.
In addition to Dong Khoi Street, several other roads in Bien Hoa, including Highway 1, Nguyen Ai Quoc Street, and the Phat Trien intersection, experienced localized flooding, causing difficulties for vehicles.
According to Dong Nai's Hydrometeorological Station, over the past 24 hours, the province has experienced scattered showers and thunderstorms, with heavy to very heavy rain in some areas. Recorded rainfall includes: Long Thanh 73 mm, Binh Son 29 mm, and Dak Lua 17 mm. Heavy rain is forecast for the next three days, with total rainfall expected to reach 50-110 mm, and over 110 mm in some areas.
