Around 4 a.m., a fire broke out in a single-story house, approximately 40 square meters in size, located on Le Quang Dao Street (the old National Highway 1). Inside the house were an 84-year-old man and his 78-year-old wife. The wife escaped and called for help from neighbors to rescue her paralyzed husband, but their efforts were unsuccessful. The fire intensified quickly due to the large quantity of belongings and a motorbike blocking the front door. Residents attempted to extinguish the flames with mini fire extinguishers, but to no avail.

According to neighbors, the couple, originally from Vinh Long, had rented the house for many years, using it as a shop to sell spare parts and repair three-wheeled motorbikes. The fire spread rapidly, and the house had only one entrance, making rescue impossible.
Multiple fire trucks and over 20 firefighters arrived at the scene. They battled the flames with water hoses to prevent the fire from spreading. Upon entering the house, they discovered the man's body. The fire destroyed most of the property inside, including a motorbike and furniture, leaving only charred remains.
