Fatal tractor-trailer collision on Dau Giay - Phan Thiet expressway

A tractor-trailer collision on the Dau Giay - Phan Thiet expressway resulted in a fatality and a two-hour traffic closure on the morning of 28/8.

Around 5 a.m., a tractor-trailer with a Hue City license plate, driven by 40-year-old Le Kim Det from Hue City, was traveling north to south. Upon reaching Tan Lap commune, it rear-ended another tractor-trailer with a Thanh Hoa license plate.

The impact severely damaged the front of Det's vehicle. Both Det and his passenger were extricated and transported to Binh Thuan General Hospital. Det succumbed to his injuries, while the passenger is currently receiving treatment for their injuries.

Traffic police arrived at the scene to manage the situation, temporarily closing the north-south section of the expressway and diverting traffic onto National Highway 1 at the Ba Bau intersection (Ham Kiem). The cause of the accident is under investigation.

At approximately 8 a.m., a container truck with a Ho Chi Minh City license plate was descending Bao Loc Pass, traveling from Lam Dong towards Ho Chi Minh City. Near the foot of the pass in Da Huoai commune, the truck lost control, colliding with a four-seat car and a passenger bus traveling in the same direction.

The container truck overturned, blocking the entire road, its cabin shattered. The other two vehicles also sustained significant damage, with debris scattered across the scene. Fortunately, there were no casualties in this incident.

The accident resulted in extensive traffic jams on the pass and National Highway 20. The Madagui Traffic Police Station, Da Huoai Commune Police, and rescue forces were present to manage traffic and clear the scene.

The 10-km Bao Loc Pass serves as a vital route connecting Lam Dong with Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City. It features steep inclines and numerous dangerous curves.
