Four occupants on the lower floors managed to escape and joined residents in an initial attempt to extinguish the fire, but it was unsuccessful. Thick black smoke quickly enveloped the upper floors, trapping the 82-year-old homeowner on the fifth floor.
Lan, a resident living near the scene, said that when the fire was discovered, people inside repeatedly called for help because someone was trapped, but the intense flames and thick smoke made access impossible.
"Firefighters arrived quickly, raised an aluminum ladder against the wall, then climbed up and brought the elderly man down safely", Lan stated.

Fire and rescue police (FRP) deployed numerous officers and specialized vehicles to the scene. Some firefighters climbed onto the adjacent rooftop, connecting two aluminum ladders to reach the top floor.
The victim was then brought safely to the ground and taken for a health check due to suspected smoke inhalation.
The fire was brought under control after about 10 minutes. The blaze destroyed many belongings inside the house, with the cause currently under investigation.
