Around 1 PM, the fire erupted in a corner of the parking lot near pillar T3, rapidly spreading throughout the area. Thick black smoke billowed dozens of meters high, and the acrid smell permeated nearby residential areas, forcing residents to close their windows and doors. Passersby covered their noses to avoid the fumes.

Less than 10 minutes later, firefighters arrived at the scene and closed off a section of Nguyen Khoai street near the fire. At least 5 fire trucks were dispatched, causing extensive traffic jams.
By the time firefighters reached the blaze, it had already spread to about 6 motorcycles. Firefighters had to break through the metal sheet fence surrounding the parking lot to get water hoses inside. After more than an hour, at 2:30 PM, the fire was finally extinguished.
At the scene, the Vinh Tuy bridge was blackened by smoke, and many motorcycles were completely burned. The exact number of damaged vehicles has not yet been determined.
