The blaze ignited around 4:45 PM. Fueled by strong winds, the fire rapidly spread.
Upon discovery, the Thuong Duc Commune Military Command mobilized over 60 personnel, including cadres, officers, professional soldiers, and militia. They collaborated with local police, security forces, and residents to combat the flames. The Dai Loc Commune Military Command also assisted in relocating assets and documents from the hazardous area.
The fire was brought under control by approximately 6:30 PM the same day. While no casualties were reported, four offices on the second floor were gutted. These included the offices of the commune's Vietnam Fatherland Front Chairman, the Youth Union, the Veterans' Association, and a storage room. Some archived documents within these rooms sustained damage.

According to local authorities, the remaining four offices were only affected by heat and smoke. Their ceilings were scorched, but the documents inside remained undamaged.
Dang Van Ky, Secretary of the Thuong Duc Commune Party Committee, stated that the building was old. An initial assessment suggests an electrical incident may have caused the fire, but police are investigating to determine the specific origin. At the time of the incident, local forces were also engaged in combating a forest fire in the area.
