Fire engulfs row of canal-side houses in Ho Chi Minh City

A fire erupted from a house near Binh Trung Market in Thu Duc City, spreading to other residences and causing panic on the morning of January 11.

Around 7 AM, a fire originated in a one-story house, approximately 50 square meters in size, located behind Binh Trung Market in Binh Trung Ward. Residents nearby attempted to extinguish the initial flames but were unsuccessful. Minutes later, the fire intensified and quickly spread to two other houses. This row of residences, primarily constructed with wooden walls and corrugated iron roofs, is situated along a canal adjacent to Giong Ong To Bridge.

As the fire raged, many vendors inside the market hall proactively moved their goods, including plastic boxes, cardboard cartons, and food items, to prevent them from catching fire.

Multiple fire trucks and over 20 firefighters swiftly arrived at the scene. Firefighters deployed hoses to douse the flames while simultaneously working to contain the blaze and prevent further spread. By over 7:30 AM, the fire was brought under control, but it had already destroyed a significant amount of property.
