Former Dong Nai chairman suspended from People's Council

Dong Nai province's People's Council has suspended Cao Tien Dung, the former chairman of the provincial People's Committee, following his indictment.

The People's Council of Dong Nai province decided to suspend Cao Tien Dung from his duties and powers as a representative of the 10th Provincial People's Council for the 2021-2026 term, effective 8/9.

This action follows the identification of Dung's wrongdoing in a provincial project during his tenure. On 1/8, the head of the Supreme People's Procuracy approved the decision to prosecute Dung. Details of the case have not yet been released.

Following a reprimand in 2023, Dung was removed from his position as chairman of the Dong Nai provincial People's Committee and transferred to the position of head of the provincial Party Committee's Commission for Propaganda and Education. Since 1/7, when Dong Nai and Binh Phuoc provinces merged, Dung has not been appointed to any position.
