"The rain was very heavy with continuous thunder and lightning. I heard a rattling on the tin roof, so I ran out to see, and it was hail", said Van, a resident of Trang Bom commune, adding that many hailstones were finger-sized.
Besides Trang Bom commune, some areas in Hung Thinh commune and Ho Nai ward also experienced hail, but with a lower density.
According to the Nam Bo and Tay Nguyen Hydro-Meteorological Station, Southern Vietnam is entering its transitional season, which often sees extreme weather phenomena such as thunderstorms, lightning, strong gusts, and localized hail in the late afternoon and evening.

Meteorological experts noted that hail occurred mainly in northern mountainous regions due to terrain and strong atmospheric convection. However, in the past two decades, this phenomenon has become more frequent in Ho Chi Minh City and southern provinces, linked to prolonged heatwaves followed by sudden thunderstorms, influenced by climate change.
