Following a recent fire that destroyed approximately 500 motorbikes under the Vinh Tuy bridge overpass, Hanoi's Department of Construction issued a directive on 3/9 requiring the removal of all parking areas from under overpasses by 30/10. The Ministry of Construction has also instructed provinces and cities to develop similar removal plans. The Vinh Tuy fire, which scorched an area of about 300 square meters, also caused damage to the bridge's concrete supports and beams.

Regulations stipulate that parking lots are not permitted on land designated for roadways, including areas under overpasses. Therefore, local authorities are prohibited from establishing paid parking services in these areas.
