Hanoi man fined for reserving parade seats

A man was fined by Hanoi police for placing 10 plastic chairs on Nguyen Thai Hoc street and charging people to watch the parade rehearsal.

On 27/8, while patrolling Nguyen Thai Hoc street near Xanh Pon Hospital in Ba Dinh ward, O Cho Dua ward police brought a 44-year-old man, residing in Ba Dinh ward, to the station for questioning.

The man admitted to placing 10 plastic chairs on the sidewalk of Nguyen Thai Hoc street to reserve spots, recognizing the demand for good viewing locations for the parade rehearsal that evening. He then offered to rent out the chairs for 20,000 VND each.

Deeming the act inappropriate and an exploitation of a significant event for personal gain, O Cho Dua ward police handed the case over to Ba Dinh ward police for processing.

In addition to this case, authorities addressed five other instances of individuals selling reserved seats on 27/8.

On 2/9, Vietnam will celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (A80) with a ceremony and parade at Ba Dinh square in Hanoi.
