Hanoi Party Secretary introduced as National Assembly candidate

Voters from the Hanoi Party Committee agency unanimously endorsed Mr. Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Politburo member and Hanoi Party Secretary, as a candidate for the 16th National Assembly.

On the morning of 13/1, the Hanoi Party Committee agency organized a voters' conference to introduce candidates for the 16th National Assembly and the 17th City People's Council, for the 2026-2031 term.

At the conference, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Van Phong announced that the Standing Board of the City Party Committee had met and agreed to nominate Mr. Nguyen Duy Ngoc, 62, as a candidate for the 16th National Assembly. The Standing Board also nominated Mr. Nguyen Trong Dong, 57, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, as a candidate for the 17th City People's Council.

Speaking at the conference, Party Secretary Nguyen Duy Ngoc affirmed that if elected as a National Assembly deputy, he would diligently fulfill the responsibilities of a representative of the people. He would focus on promoting the completion of special mechanisms for the Capital, organizing the implementation of the Capital's 100-year master plan, and concentrating on removing bottlenecks hindering development and causing waste of societal resources.

He emphasized that in any position, he would uphold responsibility, set an example, and match words with actions. He committed to resolutely fighting corruption, waste, and negativity, contributing to building a clean, strong, and exemplary City Party Committee and political system for the Capital.

The vote count results showed that 100% of the attending voters agreed to nominate Mr. Nguyen Duy Ngoc as a candidate for the 16th National Assembly and Mr. Nguyen Trong Dong as a candidate for the 17th City People's Council.

According to the resolution on the number of electoral units and National Assembly deputies, Hanoi has 11 electoral units with 32 deputies to be elected.
